Marketing Communications is responsible for elevating the reputation, perceived value and competitive strength of the University by articulating, promoting and continually advancing its brand. We do this through effective communication and promotion: by telling compelling stories about the University’s rich academic life and student experience; by promoting its thought leadership and dynamic intellectual life; and in describing the unique role the University continues to play championing the "illimitable freedom of the human mind."
We accomplish our work through effective management of the University’s digital platforms and social media presence and by creating and overseeing marketing programs designed to speak effectively to key audiences including prospective students, prospective faculty and members of the public. As part of that work, we house a creative team of designers, videographers, photographers and writers whose work reflects and promotes our institution.
Marketing Communications is also responsible for establishing and maintaining standards for the U.Va. brand. These include brand architecture, brand identity, consistent voice, look and feel, and standards for language, photography and proper use of marks.
