UVA Strong
On November 13, 2022, three UVA students, football teammates, were shot and killed on a bus after returning from a field trip. Two other students were wounded and survived. Lavel Davis, Jr., D’Sean Perry, and Devin Chandler, whose lives were vibrant and brimming with promise, were taken away from their loved ones and the UVA community through a senseless act of violence.
In the wake of this profound loss, their legacy at UVA was being formed through our grieving, remembrances, and ongoing process of healing. At UVA Communications, we bore witness to this coming together in support of the families and each other and sought to document the strength and resiliency of the UVA community. It was what we could do as part of our larger family of Hoos to honor these young men and keep them in our hearts.
